Welcome to Brown's Lake! 〰️

Hello Lake Friends,

The 2026 Browns Lake Season has been one for the ages! Friends were made, there was no reported swimmer’s itch (knock on wood), we stocked the lake with lots of beautiful trout, there was no pandemic, and we both lost and gained a floating dock and diving board–thanks to a generous donor! Wait, you hadn’t heard?. We have so much exciting and important information to share with you. Keep reading!

A NEW DOCK AND DIVING BOARD COMING IN 2027

After weeks of deliberation, we've ordered a new dock to replace the floating dock on the swim side of the lake. This will be ready for Opening Day 2027!

When we realized we needed to replace our existing dock, we thought this kind of dock was beyond our budget. But an anonymous donor stepped up with a substantial donation. Only through them can we do this. We are deeply grateful for this generosity.

Pacific Harbor Distributors in Spokane will be building the dock for us. The decking is marine-grade aluminum, and the life expectancy is 30+ years for the deck and frame and 20 to 30 years for the floats.

The dock will come with a small diving board manufactured specifically for floating platforms, and we hope it will provide as much fun as the old diving board did.

Our old dock won't last forever, but with new deck boards installed this spring, we think it has a few years left. Our current plan is to re-anchor it across the lake, opposite its current location.

This has been a complex, challenging process for the Board, and we are grateful for the time and energy invested in this project.

CLEAN-UP DAY AND END-OF-SEASON POTLUCK

We are sad to see the 2026 season end so soon, but here we are. This is a friendly reminder that all personal belongings must be taken home by Friday, September 25. This includes floaties, kayaks, paddleboards, beach toys, and life jackets. If they are left behind, we will have to get rid of them, so please take them home and bring them back next year. If you can join us on clean-up day, Saturday, September 26, please let us know on the survey at the end of this e-newsletter.

We are planning an end-of-season potluck on the swimming side at the End of August! Follow social media or ask around for details. Coming soon…

THANK YOU AND HAPPY RETIREMENT, DANIEL “MENGE”

Daniel has announced his retirement from camp hosting. We are so thankful for the eight years he watched over our campers, and he will be deeply missed. However, we hope to see him at the lake off duty for many more seasons. If you’d like to send him a kind word or a fond memory to hello@brownslake.org, we will make sure your message is delivered.

Thank you, Daniel, for your many years of camp hosting and friendship. You have left a mark on our camp-side friends and all our members, and we will miss your calm, welcoming presence.

INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING? PLEASE TAKE THE PARTICIPATION SURVEY

We often find ourselves pulling from the same pool of people to volunteer and help out at the lake. In an effort to be more inclusive and identify people we may not know are interested, we are casting a wider net and are reaching out to all our members. If you are interested in getting more involved, we created this participation interest survey just for you!

Note: Please share this info with others on your membership, as we only have one email listed per family.

THANK YOU

Thank you, everyone, for a wonderful lake season. You make our lake such a special place. It would not be possible without our members and their dedication to being careful stewards of the lake, Chuck for kindly leasing the lake to us year after year, and our Board for working tirelessly to ensure smooth operations and happy members. We have so much to be grateful for. Thank you, and we hope to see you next year!

Sincerely,

Your Board
